WELCOME… Welcome to Wingrove! Situated on Hadrian Road in west Newcastle, we occupy a modern building on a large site. At Wingrove we are fortunate in that we reflect the rich cultural and social mix present in our area of Newcastle which is of immense benefit to all our children as they study aspects of the national, social and citizenship curricula. Our logo, designed by a former pupil, depicting a child’s idea of our school – a stylised view of the globe surrounded by many different people, is an excellent representation of our school community.
The school accommodates 472 children. Beginning in the Nursery, we offer part-time (morning or afternoon) places to 52 children. From the Reception cohort to Year 6 we offer 60 places per year.
Our school is also the daily work place of some 45 teaching, learning support and facilities management staff. The team is supplemented, on a needs led basis, by various visiting professionals and specialists.
Should you choose to send your child to our school, he or she will become an important part of our school and be expected to attend every day on time, arriving well prepared and ready to learn. All children are expected to play an active part in the life of the school and there are a range of opportunities from extra-curricular clubs to membership of the School Council. Children also have opportunities to participate in the development of the school by making suggestions, giving ideas and working alongside the adults to make change happen.
Parents and carers are regularly welcomed into school, to visit classrooms, attend special assemblies and events, participate in meetings and courses, to work alongside children and to accompany them on visits into the wider community. We also appreciate active participation through our groups, meetings and drop-ins or by specific appointment. From time to time we also invite comment and suggestion via completion of surveys and questionnaires.
If, having navigated our website, you would like to know more about education and opportunities at Wingrove, please contact the school office to make an appointment to meet with myself or a senior member of our teaching team.
We will be happy to see you.
